In this unique project, we face a challenge: an outdated, sad, and deteriorated skylight that no longer fulfilled its primary purpose—bringing light and joy to the classrooms of a children’s school. Our goal is to transform it into something far beyond just a glass roof: we want it to be a magical window to the sky, a kaleidoscope of colors and shapes that inspires children and fills their daily space with life.
The Old Skylight: Farewell to the Darkness
The old skylight, dull and tired, seemed more like a forgotten hatch than a source of light. It barely let any sunlight through, and its appearance did not inspire either the children or the teachers. With its flat shape and dull glass, it absorbed enthusiasm rather than illuminating. It was time to retire it!
The New Skylight: A Burst of Light and Color
The solution was to break with monotony and embrace creative geometry. The new skylight presents a three-dimensional structure that plays with light and shadow, creating surprising visual effects throughout the day.
Instead of a simple clear glass, we incorporated colored panels that, when illuminated by the sun, project a rainbow over the walls and floor. This touch of color adds a playful dimension to the space, transforming the central area of the school into a place where light becomes a tool for play, imagination, and learning.
The new skylight is not just a functional change but a statement of intent. We wanted the children to look up and feel that the ceiling of their school was no longer a limit but a window to the outside world and the sky. This skylight not only brings light but also imagination, fantasy, and color, inspiring children to explore their creativity from the very heart of their school.
Thus, what began as a technical problem turned into an opportunity to transform an everyday space into something full of life, joy, and magic. Because if a skylight can make the sky appear brighter and more colorful, imagine what it can do for a child’s mind!
