Description

A bridge (just like a footbridge) always symbolizes, before anything else, the will to unite two distinct elements. In other words, worlds that were previously separate, now in need of understanding each other.

Therefore, a bridge (also a footbridge) cannot detach itself from its iconic character as a SIGN. Whether for better or worse, it must accept its role of belonging to the group, where the first REPRESENTATIONS that grant order to the urban complex are found.

Before the modern materials capable of handling flexural stresses were known, the arch, with only compressive forces, was the solution to span the gap between shores. Today, the lightness of steel can effectively take on the tension between supports while emphasizing elegance through the stark sincerity of its structural behavior.

The large girder (fixed-supported) guarantees the stability of the whole structure between supports. The ground connection of this piece is proposed to rest on the elevation, fold, and carving practiced on both edges, aligned with the ground plane.

The inner envelope with a floating steel mesh enhances safety for users, highlights the clarity of the main structural bars, and supports continuity and monolithic behavior, while filtering sunlight to create thermal comfort during the warmer moments. The access control system forms part of the same independent structure as the mesh. The handrails and other protections follow the established design criteria to ensure their unique identity, interacting with their main functionality without attending to the nearby geometries.

The lighting fixtures that emit and project artificial light underline the visual sincerity, responding to the natural need to see and be seen, while accentuating the effect of the mesh element, whose form is perceived as a negative over the solids in its path. This creates an elegant and simple image at twilight, fine-tuning the lighting arrangements within the surroundings and establishing our presence without clashing.
